WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman James Comer (R-Ky.) is proud to announce Elyda Hicks of Metcalfe County High School as the winner of Kentucky's 1st Congressional District's 2024 Congressional Art Competition. Hick’s drawing is titled “Where Hope Began” and will hang in the U.S. Capitol.
Union County High School student Rachel Greenwell came in second place with a piece titled “Blue Collar Bluegrass.” Greenwell’s artwork will be prominently displayed in Congressman Comer’s Washington, D.C. office.
Christian County High School student Elena Pruett came in third place with a piece titled “Derby Finish Line.” Pruett’s impressive work will be on display in Congressman Comer's Tompkinsville, Kentucky office.
“Every year I am impressed by the artwork submitted by high school students from across Kentucky’s 1st Congressional District. My office received some incredible pieces of art this year and I want to congratulate Elyda, Rachel, and Elena on being selected as this year’s winners. I am excited to display this artwork in the U.S. Capitol building and my offices in both Washington and Tompkinsville,” said Congressman Comer.
