WASHINGTON, DC – Today Congressman Comer attended the 2018 Angels in Adoption Luncheon Ceremony to present Kristin Hill Taylor with her Angels in Adoption certificate and official pin. Kristin is a resident of Murray, Kentucky, along with her husband, Greg, and their three children they adopted as newborns – Cate, Ben, and Rachel.

Each year, Congressional Members nominate individuals, families or organizations for this award who have demonstrated a commitment to the adoption community and improving the lives of children in need of permanent, loving homes. This year’s honoree, Kristin Hill Taylor, is an adoption advocate, blogger and author.

“We have a very active adoption community in my district and throughout Kentucky,” Congressman Comer said. “Today I’m proud to recognize Kristin Hill Taylor for her great efforts sharing positive stories surrounding adoption, encouraging other adoptive parents, and serving as a role model to her adoptive children. Her work truly helps expand important conversations about adoption, faith and family.”

During this annual gathering, Angels in Adoption Honorees also have the chance to meet with their elected Representatives to discuss legislative goals for the adoption community. Congressman Comer has supported several measures that support adoptive families in the First District and across the Commonwealth:

  • Cosponsored the Child Welfare Provider Inclusion Act (H.R. 1881), which would prevent faith-based adoption and foster care agencies from being discriminated against by the federal government and by state governments that receive federal funding
  • Voted for the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (H.R. 1), which helps families and caregivers by preserving the Adoption Tax Credit
  • Signed onto letter along with 112 members of the House and Senate encouraging the Prime Minister of Ethiopia to lift restrictions on pending adoptions for hundreds of American families (Dec. 2017)
  • Member of Congressional Coalition on Adoption
