December 3, 2018
Press Release

Congressman James Comer was recently awarded the Friend of Farm Bureau Award by the American Farm Bureau Federation for his commitment to improving the lives of those in rural America. This award is given to Members of Congress who have supported Farm Bureau’s position on policy issues, as shown through their voting records.

Kentucky Farm Bureau (KFB) First Vice President, Eddie Melton, commented, “Kentucky Farm Bureau appreciates the support Congressman James Comer gives to agriculture in this state and across the country. As a farmer himself, he brings a true perspective of our industry to his service on the House Agriculture Committee and has worked tirelessly on such issues as the Farm Bill. The Friend of Farm Bureau Award recognizes those legislative leaders who support the organization’s agricultural policy and its advocacy efforts. Congressman Comer is truly deserving of this honor and we congratulate him.”

Sharon Furches, owner of Furches Farms Partnership and newly-elected Second Vice President of KFB also commented on the award, “Congressman Comer is a friend of farmers in Kentucky and the Kentucky Farm Bureau organization in every way. He has supported and been a part of KFB for many years and truly understands the issues facing agriculture. As our former Commissioner of Agriculture prior to being elected to the U.S. Congress, he worked tirelessly to improve farm and rural life in Kentucky. Now he champions agriculture to support this great industry across America.”
