Congressman Comer supports STOP School Violence Act

March 14, 2018
Press Release

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the House of Representatives passed the STOP School Violence Act (H.R. 4909). Congressman Comer is a proud cosponsor of this bill, which would create a grant program to help schools implement measures to increase school security and keep students and school personnel safe. He spoke in support of this important, bipartisan legislation during debate on the House floor, saying:

“In the wake of the Marshall County shooting, I heard from the families of victims and other members of the Marshall County community that their top priority was enhancing physical security in our schools – whether that means installing metal detectors, hiring school resource officers, or making other evidence-based improvements to prevent and mitigate school violence. This bill will provide resources to schools so that they can do just that, while also supporting training for students, teachers and local law enforcement to identify and prevent violence in our schools.”
