WASHINGTON – Congressman James Comer is proud to congratulate the people of Christian County for being one of only eight communities in the country to receive the 2017 Great American Defense Community Award.

“It’s great to see Christian County recognized as a model of what a great defense community should be. Their dedication to improving the lives of military servicemembers, veterans and their families is evident in the many programs and initiatives they have created,” said Comer.

Some of these programs include Student 2 Student, which helps children from military families adjust to their new school, the Military Affairs Committee, and the military spouse program which provides career and networking opportunities for military spouses in the Christian County community.

“I am honored to recognize the great work being done to support Fort Campbell, military servicemembers and their families who call the area home. It’s a very deserving award to a very deserving community,” Comer added.
