First District Congressman James Comer released a statement Tuesday afternoon saying he supports President Donald Trump’s decision to put a hold on further payments from the United States to the World Health Organization (WHO).
President Donald Trump announced Tuesday afternoon he is “halting funding to WHO while a review is being conducted to assess their role in severely mismanaging and covering up the spread of the coronavirus.”
Comer said in his statement, “American taxpayers should absolutely not subsidize any agency whose leadership worked with Communist China to conceal the dangers of COVID-19 from the world.” He added, “until there is accountability from the WHO on this apparent cover-up and a full investigation into their relationship with the Chinese government”, he fully supports the President’s action to cut off their funding.
Congressman Comer joined fellow members of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform last week in requesting documents from the WHO on their assistance with the Chinese government’s coronavirus propaganda efforts. You can read the full letter by clicking here.
