WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Comer issued the following statement on President Biden’s Environmental Protection Agency moving toward a reinstatement of the former Obama Administration’s destructive ‘Waters of the United States’ (WOTUS) regulation, which invites the federal government to regulate farm ponds and small streams just like they do large, navigable waterways.

“President Obama and his EPA bureaucrats never set foot on a farm before seeking to impose destructive federal regulations that threatened the livelihood of the family farm. Unfortunately, President Biden is bringing back an unworkable and radical environmental agenda that directly targets rural America.

President Trump smartly acted to provide clarity to this issue by ensuring that we had workable regulations to protect our nation’s navigable waters, while shielding American agriculture from government overreach. Unfortunately, this enormous federal power grab reverses that progress. This is just the latest example of President Biden thumbing his nose at rural America.”
