TOMPKINSVILLE, Ky. – Congressman James Comer (KY-01) announced the winner of the 2018 Congressional Art Competition. Asjion Catlett, a student at Christian County High School, won for her piece titled “War Hero.” Her artwork will hang in the U.S. Capitol all year, and she will receive two roundtrip tickets to Washington for the national reception.
Laura DeLoach, also from Christian County High School, finished 2nd for “Lost War.” Her artwork will hang in Congressman Comer’s office in Washington, D.C.
“Congratulations to all of the students who participated in the 2018 Congressional Art Competition. All of the artwork entered showcased an extreme amount of talent, and I’m proud to have these winners displayed for visitors in Washington,” said Rep. James Comer.
In addition to the winning artwork hanging in the capitol, Asjion Catlett’s piece will also be featured on house.gov’s Congressional Art Competition page.
Serving as judges for this year’s competition were Azucena “Susie” Trejo-Williams and Davie Reneau from Campbellsville University’s Art Department.
